Sandoval Lake Lodge :

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to Sandoval Lodge

  • Pickup: You’ll be picked up from the airport or bus station and taken to the main office for registration.
  • Travel to Port to  Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru: From the main office, you’ll proceed to the port to board an outboard boat.
  • River Journey – Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru: Sail down the Alto Madre de Dios River, observing various species along the way.
    Arrival at Sandoval Lake Reserve: Register at the control post of the reserve and embark on a 3 km journey through the jungle.
  • Canoe Ride: Transfer to a rowing canoe and navigate through a channel to reach Lake Sandoval.
  • Arrival at Lodge: Cross the lake to reach Sandoval Lodge, where you’ll check-in and have lunch.
  • Afternoon Exploration: Explore Lake Sandoval in a rowing canoe, observing wildlife.
  • Night Activity: Venture out on the lake in a rowing canoe with flashlights to spot black alligators, night birds, and other species.

Day 2: Exploring Wildlife at Sandoval Lodge

  • Morning Birdwatching: Wake up to bird songs and enjoy breakfast.
  • Wildlife Observation: Explore the lake and surrounding jungle to observe various species, including giant otters, turtles, alligators, and macaws.
  • Lunch: Return to the lodge for lunch.
  • Forest Exploration to Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru  Venture into the virgin forest to see nut trees, healing plants, and diverse wildlife such as monkeys, tarantulas, and mammals.
  • Night Activity: Explore the forest at night to observe nocturnal species.

Day 3: Wildlife at Lake Sandoval Reserve Center

  • Sunrise Excursion to Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru: Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Lake Sandoval.
  • Bird Watching: Cross the lake to observe birds nesting in Mauritia palm trees.
  • Forest Walk to Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru : Explore the primary forest with your guide, learning about its ecology and diverse flora and fauna.
    Swimming and Relaxation: Enjoy free time for swimming in Lake Sandoval.
  • Sunset Canoe Ride: Take a canoe ride to capture photos of the sunset over the lake.
  • Evening Activities: Return to the lodge for dinner, followed by storytelling around a campfire.
  • Rest: Retire to your rooms for the night.

Day 4: Sandoval Lodge to Puerto Maldonado

  • Breakfast and Packing: Enjoy breakfast and pack your belongings.
  • Canoe Ride and Walk: Board a rowing canoe to navigate back to the port and walk to the checkpoint.
  • Boat Journey: Take an outboard boat up the Madre de Dios River to Puerto Maldonado.
  • Transfer to Office: Transfer to the tour office to collect any left luggage.
  • Departure: Proceed to the airport or bus station for your departure.

Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru – This place is the most surprising natural paradise where one of the largest concentrations of endemic birds and butterflies found in the lowlands of the world are found. Tambopata – Sandoval lake offers one of the very exciting and unique Amazonian experiences that exists in our Peruvian Amazon.As we can see the giant river otter, or «river wolf», (This species is in extinction in the world) Its preferred food is fish, turtles, black caiman.

This Sandoval lake shelters a great diversity of species which is his habitation.

Where you can enjoy an exciting exhibition of one of the rarest species of mammals.

We can also see the blue and gold macaws and the red-bellied macaws.

1: They live naturally in the flooded palm forest at the west end of Lake Sandoval. In the forests surrounding the lake live some species of monkeys such as the brown capuchin, friar, red howler monkey, Musmuqui, stump monkey, saddle marmoset and night monkeys and among others the Bolivian squirrel.
2: The sunrises on the lake are more wonderful, listening to the songs of the birds and the howl of the howling monkey.
The sunsets are the most impressionable, the sun manages to shed its solar rays into the deepest part of the jungle and then disappears at the edge of Lake Sandoval, a perfect moment for photographs.
3: Take the canoes and go into the deepest part of the lake where one discovers the wonderful flora and fauna that nature offers us.
4: In the virgin primary forests we can find a diversity of medicinal plants and giant trees with more than 80 meters in height that can be more than 500 years old, which is their habitat for many species from the smallest to the largest animals , frogs, toads, ants, birds, insects, reptiles, etc.

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru

Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado, we will pick you up from the airport or bus station and proceed to our main office. After registering and storing your luggage, we will head to the port to board our outboard boat for a scenic journey down the Alto Madre de Dios River. Sandoval Lake Lodge

You may spot turtles basking on fallen trunks, various fishing and migratory birds, and possibly the capybara, the world’s largest rodent. We will then arrive at the control post of the Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru Reserve. From there, we’ll travel 5 km through the dense jungle to a small port, where we will board a canoe. After rowing through a winding channel, we will reach Lake Sandoval and cross it in 50 minutes to our lodge. After settling into your room and enjoying lunch, we will start exploring Lake Sandoval by canoe. Wildlife sightings may include giant otters, black caimans, prehistoric shanshos, turtles, and many bird species. After dinner, we will embark on a night canoe trip with flashlights to spot nocturnal creatures such as black caimans and night birds before returning to the lodge for rest.

Day 2: Exploring Wildlife, Flora, and Fauna at Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru

Awake to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a hearty breakfast. Today’s adventure will offer further opportunities to observe the diverse wildlife of Sandoval Lake Lodge – Amazon Peru, including over 65 species of migratory and resident birds, giant otters, turtles, and vibrant macaws. After lunch, we’ll explore the rich undergrowth of the virgin forest, learning about valuable resources like chestnut trees and medicinal plants. We will search for monkeys, tarantulas, frogs, and other fascinating creatures. In the evening, a night walk in the virgin forest will reveal nocturnal species such as frogs, toads, and night monkeys. Return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Wildlife Exploration at Lake Sandoval Reserve Center

Rise early to witness a stunning sunrise over Lake Sandoval. After breakfast, we will take our canoe across the lake to explore a pristine area favored by various birds, including parrots, parakeets, and macaws. Our guide will explain the rainforest’s ecology and its unique flora and fauna as we traverse the primary forest. After a refreshing lunch and some free time to swim in the lake or try sport fishing, we will enjoy a sunset canoe ride. At 7 pm, we’ll return to the lodge for dinner and gather around a campfire to listen to jungle stories under the moonlight.

Day 4: Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru to Puerto Maldonado

On the final day, we will have breakfast and prepare for departure. We’ll navigate Lake Sandoval and its channels by canoe to reach the port. From there, we will walk to the checkpoint and board our outboard boat to return up the Madre de Dios River to Puerto Maldonado. After collecting your luggage from our office, we will transfer you to the airport or bus terminal for your onward journey.
