Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru: A 4-Day Adventure
Sandoval Lodge – Amazon Peru is a surprising natural paradise, home to one of the largest concentrations of endemic birds and butterflies found in the lowlands of the world. Located in the Tambopata region,
Tambopata – Sandoval Lake Lodge offers one of the most exciting and unique Amazonian experiences in Peru.
Here, visitors have the rare opportunity to observe the giant river otter, also known as the “river wolf,” a species that is currently facing extinction. The giant river otter primarily feeds on fish, turtles, and the black caiman.
Furthermore, the lake serves as a sanctuary for a great diversity of species. These include some of the rarest and most fascinating mammals, such as the blue and gold macaws, as well as the red-bellied macaws.
Moreover, these majestic creatures can be seen living naturally in the flooded palm forests at the western edge of Lake Sandoval.
The surrounding forests are home to a variety of monkey species, including the brown capuchin, friar monkey, red
howler monkey, musmuqui, stump monkey, saddle marmoset, and night monkeys. In addition, you might also encounter the Bolivian squirrel, among many others.
On top of that, the mornings in this region are unforgettable.
The sunrises over Lake Sandoval are incredibly beautiful, accompanied by the sounds of birds singing and the haunting howls of the howler monkeys. In the same way, the sunsets are equally impressive, as the sun’s rays
penetrate deep into the jungle before disappearing into the horizon at the edge of the lake. This is a perfect moment for photography.
Additionally, a canoe ride through the lake’s waters allows visitors to discover the wonderful flora and fauna that the
Amazon has to offer. In particular, the virgin primary forests are teeming with medicinal plants and towering trees over 80 meters tall. Some of these trees are believed to be more than 500 years old, providing a habitat for countless
species, ranging from the smallest ants and insects to the largest reptiles and mammals.
Finally, the Sandoval Lake Reserve holds many mysteries and secrets waiting to be uncovered with the help of native jungle guides.
