Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado – Journey to Collpa Chuncho Suites

Your Amazon adventure begins when your official tour guide welcomes you at the Puerto Maldonado airport, bus station, or hotel. After a quick stop in the city center to pick up any last-minute essentials (flashlights, rain ponchos, batteries, etc.), we’ll drive approximately 90 minutes through scenic farmland to the boat dock at Filadelfia.

From there, enjoy a 30-minute boat ride along the Tambopata River, with opportunities to observe local wildlife and riverside activity, including traditional artisanal gold mining.

Upon arrival at Collpa Chuncho Suites, you’ll be greeted with a refreshing drink made from seasonal Amazonian fruits. After check-in, settle into your private jungle cabaña, each named in honor of a local Indigenous community. Meals feature organic produce from our gardens and fresh regional ingredients, offering a true taste of the Amazon.

 Jungle Introduction Walk :In the afternoon, your naturalist guide will lead a walk through nearby forest trails, introducing you to ancient trees, monkeys, toucans, and colorful macaws (locally known as guacamayos). As the sun rises, enjoy a boxed breakfast while watching hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets feed on the mineral-rich clay. With luck, you may also spot capybaras, monkeys, or even tapirs.

Later in the morning, we return to Puerto Maldonado for a second river journey—this time deeper into the Tambopata National Reserve, en route to Sandoval Lake. After a 40-minute boat ride and a 3-kilometer hike through protected rainforest, we arrive at this tranquil, wildlife-rich lake.

Here, you may see giant river otters, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and a wide variety of remarkable bird species.

After checking in to our partner eco-lodge, enjoy a peaceful evening on the lake, highlighted by a breathtaking Amazon sunset.

Reach the lake after a 40-minute boat ride and a 3-kilometer jungle walk. Along the way, spot wildlife including red

howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, capuchins, and dusky titi monkeys.

Check in to your partner eco-lodge near the lake, then return to the water in time for a magnificent sunset. After

dark, paddle out to look for black caimans, which can grow over 4 meters long, illuminated by your guide’s flashlight.

 DAY 5: Sunrise at the Lake – Transfer to Airport or Bus Terminal
