Each day begins with a traditional breakfast and fresh juices made from local fruits. You’ll also enjoy lunches and dinners based on traditional recipes. Don’t miss out on the aphrodisiac drinks crafted with Amazonian ingredients.
Excursions are guided by local experts who know every corner of the jungle. One of the most thrilling experiences is a visit to the famous Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, one of the best places in the world to observe macaws and parrots in their natural habitat. At sunrise, we’ll head out by motorboat on the Tambopata River, giving you amazing chances to spot animals like tapirs, caimans, monkeys, birds, and—if you’re lucky—even a jaguar along the riverbanks.
After this adventure, unwind at Collpa Chuncho Suites with a tropical cocktail in hand, listening to the vibrant calls of macaws lit by sunbeams—like a rainbow descending upon the jungle amazon Trips .
The Tapir Encounter: A Unique Moment at the Sachavaca Clay Lick – Explore the Amazon in 4 days
The next day promises an even more exclusive adventure: a visit to the Sachavaca Clay Lick, also known as the Tapir Clay Lick. This special place is frequented by the Amazonian tapir (Tapirus terrestris), the largest land mammal in South America, weighing over 330 kg (730 lbs). These animals visit the clay lick to consume mineral-rich clay essential to their diet.
In addition to tapirs, you may also spot other mammals such as deer, peccaries, and various types of monkeys, along with birds that frequent the area. With the help of your guide, you’ll learn how to identify animal tracks and signs, deepening your connection with the wild.amazo

As the sun rises, enjoy a boxed breakfast while watching hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets feed on the mineral-rich clay. With luck, you may also spot capybaras, monkeys, or even tapirs.
Later in the morning, we return to Puerto Maldonado for a second river journey—this time deeper into the Tambopata National Reserve, en route to Sandoval Lake. After a 40-minute boat ride and a 3-kilometer hike through protected rainforest, we arrive at this tranquil, wildlife-rich lake.
Here, you may see giant river otters, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and a wide variety of remarkable bird species.
After checking in to our partner eco-lodge, enjoy a peaceful evening on the lake, highlighted by a breathtaking Amazon sunset.

Tapir Clay Lick Hike : In the afternoon, join a one-hour guided hike to the Tapir Clay Lick—a secluded area often visited by the South American tapir, the largest land mammal in the Amazon.
