Spot river turtles sunbathing, wade through flocks of fishing birds, and maybe glimpse the docile giant capybara— the world’s largest rodent.
Midday: Arrive at the Sandoval Lake checkpoint, log in with park officials, and begin a 5 km guided trek through lush primary jungle. Reach a quiet dock and transfer to a handcrafted canoe—a serene, 50‑minute glide across Sandoval Lake to your riverside lodge.
Afternoon: After settling into your cozy room and enjoying a delicious lodge lunch, board your canoe again to explore Sandoval Lake. Keep an eye out for the playful giant otters (nicknamed “river wolves”), black caimans, prehistoric shoebill-like birds (“shanshos”), turtles, and colorful tropical birds.
Evening: Return to the lodge for dinner. After dark, venture out in your flashlight-lit canoe on the nocturnal wildlife tour—your best chance to see black caimans, night birds, tree monkeys, and other jungle dwellers. Then rest peacefully in your comfortable bungalow.

Midday: Lunch back at the lodge, then set off on a botanical hike into primary forest. See century‑old Brazil nut
trees and learn about medicinal plants like ayahuasca, chacruna, sacha garlic, huayo sugar, Chuchuhuasi, and copaiba.
Afternoon: Your jungle guide will lead you through primate-rich corridors. Watch for capuchins, squirrel monkeys,
howlers, titi (“leoncito”), and night tarantulas, frogs, and armadillos.
Night: After dinner, embark on another thrilling nocturnal jungle walk to spot rare reptiles, amphibians, and possibly a nocturnal primate or two.
